ELLIS CREEK FARMS Ann Petricola and Joel Baranick are the dynamic duo behind Ellis Creek Farms - a small (but mighty) three-acre farm in Northeast Olympia. Since 2016, they've worked to create their own urban oasis on a shady tract of forest land. After living and working in Seattle, the couple decided they wanted to expand their backyard garden to a fully fledged farming operation.  


So they started small, growing lettuce, microgreens and gourmet greens. Soon, they were delivering to restaurants around Thurston County. 


As self-proclaimed stewards of the land and local waterways, Joel and Ann have worked to keep their ecological footprint small. They use salmon-safe, organic farming practices. And they rely heavily on 'human-powered' methods to plant, grow and harvest their produce. 


With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, they've also seen an uptick in business--and an outpouring of support for their inaugural CSA offering. 


Their homegrown produce is a welcome weekly delivery to households in Thurston County. And for families in the area, they can take comfort in knowing that the Ellis Creek farm is a four-hands operation--a local-centric labor of love between two Olympia transplants who've embraced their community and their mission to grow healthy, wholesome food.
